This is the first time
a full Boray album has
been released on the
Vic-20.

Why release a new full
music album on the
Commodore Vic-20 in
2013? Short answer-
Why not? Long answer-
After my endeavors
with the development
of SD2IECplay- while
working on my new
music album at the
same time- it just
seemed like the
logical thing to do.

This is no doubt the
most demoish thing
I've ever done on the
Vic-20.

This is 4 bit 4 kHz
mono. Get the album at
boray.bandcamp.com to
enjoy it in 24 bit
44.1 kHz stereo. These
numbers means that the
sound of the bandcamp
version is 23 millions
times more detailed
than the Vic-20
version.

All music was composed
and recorded by me
(Anders Persson)
during the summer and
fall of 2013. It was
recorded with the DAW
software Reaper 4 and
I play keyboards-
guitars and bass
guitar on the album.
Drums were played on
a keyboard as well.
The song "Grannarna"
also includes singing-
a power grinding tool
and pounding on a
wardrobe.

This program was made
by me (Anders Persson)
as well (of course).

The dancing string you
see while the music
is playing is the
actual sound wave
played- or more
precisely- every
second sample of it.

The album's cover art
at boray.bandcamp.com
was made from 100%
real Vic-20 graphics
photographed from
this program and a
real Vic-20 and then
put together. So the
album cover contains
sound waves of the
music on the album-
presented on a Vic-20.

Back in the day a RAM
expansion was more or
less a standard part
of the Vic-20 setup.
It was the thing you
got after the tape
drive and a joystick.
It costed about as
the tape drive. So why
didn't I make this
program for an
expanded Vic? Well-
I wanted to reach as
many potential users
as possible. Today
many people collect
all of the Commodores
and have no particular
interest in the Vic-20
other than to own one
and to play around
with it a bit using
the same SD2IEC drive
as with the rest of
the collection. I bet
many of these NEW Vic
users don't own a RAM
expansion or know what
an important part it
is of the Vic
experience. Without
one you wouldn't be
able to play pirated
cartridge game images
for one thing. 8-)

Anyway- as SJLOAD uses
1413 bytes- I only had
a little over 2KB to
work with. Should be
enough to stream some
music!

This text is over 7kb
big- so this is not
just a music streaming
program- it's a text
streaming program as
well.

SJLOAD included is V07
and was developed by
Edward Carroll 1570
Diddl and nbla000.

The song to the
neighbours
Text and Music-
Anders Persson 2013

Who is it that's
pounding on my wall?
Could it be the
neighbour- he with
the beard?
Could I be allowed to
sleep seven o'clock?
How can he start
pounding now?

You who like to have
grinding dust in your
hair.
I would rather like
to sleep a bit longer
if that's possible.
I'm singing to the
neighbours.
Those who are
changing pipe system.
aaiiaaiiaaaaa.
I'm singing to the
neighbours.
Those who are
changing pipe system.
aaiiaaiiaaaaa.

Try now to think a
little- you.
Everyone doesn't want
to wake up at seven
o'clock.
If you fell asleep
at two o'clock.
So could you try to
walk on your toes?

You who like to have
grinding dust in your
hair.
I would rather like
to sleep a bit longer
if that's possible.
I'm singing to the
neighbours.
Those who are
changing pipe system.
aaiiaaiiaaaaa.
I'm singing to the
neighbours.
Those who are
changing pipe system.
aaiiaaiiaaaaa.

Solo

Listen to this- Edwin
Barr.
I'm playing a bit on
my guitar.
But I never play
after 12 o'clock.
So stop pounding in
my floor.
Stop pounding in my
floor!
Stop pounding in my
floor!

Visitors from Gohlon

In 2010 Boray made a
journey to the planet
of Gohlon. A few days
ago it was time for
three Gohlonian
aliens to visit him.
They had coffee on
the balcony and
talked about the
weather- and that was
about the weather on
planet Earth in
general- the high
oxygen percentage in
the air for example.
Then they went inside
to help Boray record
this tune. What you
think is synthesizer
is actually
gohlonians singing -
with their nostrils.
Very pretty!
